Adult Programs

We treat the unique mental and physical needs of each client, starting with a confidential, thorough clinical assessment.  This screening evaluates appropriateness of treatment and level of care needed – based on the progression and severity of the addiction, including prior treatment and history of drug relapse.

Turning Point Recovery provides individualized care for any type of addiction, along with other conditions that could impede recovery such as depression, trauma, or bipolar disorder.

Our adult programs are designed to meet clients where they are in their lives.  We offer evening therapy and skills training sessions so that in most cases, individuals may continue to work while getting the help they need.

Turning Point Treatment Programs

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – is an internationally-recognized, proven psychotherapy treatment and a hallmark of our program at Turning Point Recovery.  We use DBT to teach clients a new repertoire of skills that will help them manage disturbing emotions, remain calm and apply effective interpersonal techniques to solve the problems of their lives.

DBT integrates the concepts of behavior therapy, acceptance and mindfulness, and puts greater emphasis on changing what you do, not just what you think.

More than 18 scientific studies demonstrate DBT’s success in reducing suicide attempts, hospitalizations and substance use for those with complex, co-occurring disorders.  DBT has been shown to be highly beneficial for people with impulsive behavior who have difficulty regulating their emotions (some conditions that DBT helps include borderline personality disorder, traumatic brain injury, major depression, eating disorders and drug addiction that co-occurs with mental illness).

Clients at Turning Point attend weekly individual counseling and coaching sessions as they progress through four DBT skills training courses:  Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.  Each includes a core competence that requires practice in structured group therapy.

The goal is to sustain recovery and respond to personal trials with more functional, adaptive behaviors.  In a nutshell, DBT gives our clients the skills, abilities and validation to recover from addiction and build a meaningful life in recovery.

Our DBT therapy sessions are conducted in comfortable, inviting rooms, and Turning Point is in-network for most health insurance programs.

Suboxone (Buprenorphine) Therapy – helps our clients with opioid dependence by delivering effective, medication-assisted treatment.  Suboxone can reduce drug cravings and provide rapid relief of opiate withdrawal, enabling patients to function better and focus on their recovery.  Our structured, outpatient Suboxone program includes medically supervised detox by certified Suboxone physicians, and ongoing medication management.

Detox Care – Abstaining from drugs and alcohol is the first step in the recovery process; however, for many people with addiction, abruptly stopping is not only difficult but sometimes dangerous.  Detox is the process by which withdrawal symptoms are safely and medically managed in a hospital setting.  This improves the odds of a successful recovery and makes withdrawal more comfortable.  We use medication-assisted therapies such as Suboxone in detox, and our caring medical practitioners will monitor your physical and emotional state 24/7, to increase your comfort and ease any anxieties.

Care for Co-Occurring Disorders – is a strength of our program at Turning Point.  Our physicians and clinical staff have extensive experience providing specialized treatment for “dual diagnoses” – any mental illness or other disorder that co-occurs with addiction.  This may include help for depression, trauma, excessive anxiety, bipolar disorder, dual addictions, co-dependency or other complex conditions.  We also treat behavioral problems such as anger, and impulse control issues as well as personality disorders.

Relapse Prevention/After Care Services – include an extensive weekly group and individual therapy program centered on the skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy.  We also invite you to connect with peer mentors in our strong alumni program.

Inpatient Treatment Network – Turning Point recognizes that some patients require intensive residential treatment to achieve recovery.  We partner with acclaimed inpatient rehabilitation centers throughout the country, carefully placing hundreds of patients each year in programs that best fit their treatment needs.  The majority of patients referred to inpatient facilities complete residential care and then bolster their success at Turning Point Recovery outpatient centers.

Addiction Intervention Services – We partner with caring, professional interventionists to help break the cycle of addiction and family crisis.  This can often restore the family’s well-being and in some cases, start lifesaving recovery for the addicted person.  For more information about professional interventions in practice, visit http://caringinterventions.com or call Turning Point for help at (888) 512-3309.

Family Support Program – is a critical part of the journey at Turning Point.  We believe that addiction is a family disease and recovery is a process of family healing.  Having a strong support network increases the chances of long-term recovery, so we invite loved ones to participate – with your permission – in family education and counseling programs.  We offer families the opportunity to heal, and to develop tools to successfully negotiate the tenuous dynamic changes in recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Program/Partial Hospitalization Program – provides structured therapy for adult and adolescent clients in recovery.  These programs are directed by master’s level clinicians, supported by a staff psychiatrist and addictionologist, and certified by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.

Clients learn valuable skills for recovery, applying the proven principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  There’s also a strong family component to the programs.

  • The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides day and evening adult therapy groups 12 hours per week (four sessions)
  • The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides mostly evening adult therapy groups 20 hours per week (housing available for male patients)
  • Individual sessions are determined by each client’s unique treatment plan
